About Louise and Mel Pollard
In June 2011, Mel and I went on a 2 week Alaskan cruise. It was an unusual experience for us, and we were able to make some interesting photographs. We traveled up the coast stopping at most of the major cities along the way.
Due to some personal problems, I have been very slow in updating our site, but I hope to correct that in the next few weeks.
In April and May of 2010, Mel and I traveled to Europe with family and friends. There were 7 of us and we rented a villa in Positano, Italy for 2 weeks. What a treat! It was our first visit there but probably not our last. Mel and I also wandered around Tuscany. I'm going to be posting photographs from there during the next week or so. I hope you will look for them.
Those of you who have seen us at Art Festivals and Street Markets, may have noticed that we were not there this year. We have decided to have a little shop as part of my studio instead. If I have your email address, you will be hearing from me in the next few days with infomation about it. If you think I don't have your address, please send it to me. I do hope you will try to find time to come see us and our work.
Mel and I left our native Texas a number of years ago, living in Arizona, New York, Massachusettes, and Maryland, before finally settling near Salt Lake City, Utah. We've enjoyed all the places where we have lived and learned that traveling is fun and great for photographers.
Mel has a Master’s degree in Photographic Science and Instrumentation from Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT) in New York. In addition to the training I have absorbed from being around Mel, I have been associated with the Salt Lake City Art Center’s Photography Department for the past 15 years – first as a student and then as a Photo Lab Supervisor. We have both developed into avid photographers.
Fortunately, our great love of photography blends well with our other great love – travel.
Our travel destinations have really expanded over time. We have visited and photographed in Mexico (both coasts), the Bahamas, the British Virgin Islands, the Canadian Maritime Provinces, Scotland, France, and Spain. We cruised from Florida through the Panama Canal around to Acapulco. In 2007, we visited Cambodia, Vietnam, France and Italy. Then in 2008, we treated ourselves to a cruise through the Mediterranean. At the end of the cruise, we were in Venice where we stayed a week.
Currently only a few of our photographs are on this site, but this is just the beginning. We plan to add more and change them from time to time. We hope you enjoy seeing our photographs and will check back often.
All our images are for sale and very reasonably priced. If you are interested in purchasing an image, please see our Prices and Sizes page and then press the $Purchase button next to the photograph you want.
